Georgia Registered Environmental Health Professionals

The Georgia Board of Registered Environmental Health Professionals (GBREHP) offers opportunities for internationally recognized registration, continuing education, responsible leadership, and job growth. Professional credentials are one way of telling your clientele that your training and experience enable you to answer their questions and improve their safety.

Exam Information

The Georgia Board of Registered Environmental Health Professionals administers and accepts two examinations for the RS/REHS credential. The first is through "Experior Assessments, LLC" and is the same exam given by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). Applicants must take this exam if they wish to become registered with NEHA in the future, either by reciprocity or direct application. The passing score for the NEHA exam may fluctuate due to statistical analyses, but has been 68 percent for many years and is currently 68 percent. For more information about the content of the exam, go to the NEHA's website or download this pdf file.

The other exam available is the PES - Professional Examination Service exam. This is the exam that was used in Georgia prior to the NEHA exam. Passing score on it is 70 percent. Both exams consist of 250 multiple-choice questions and cover all aspects of the environmental health field. Applicants designate which exam they wish to take. The cost of either exam is $125, which only covers the expense of purchasing the exam from NEHA or PES. Exams taken through NEHA or other entities may incur higher exam fees.

The Georgia Board of Registered Environmental Health Professionals grants reciprocity for valid credentials from NEHA or another state as long as those requirements are as stringent or more stringent than Georgia's. Application for registration by reciprocity is made using the application form.
