GEHA Irving Bell Golf Scholarship: 

GEHA hosts a golf tournament as part of the Annual Education Conference each year to raise scholarship funds for Georgia students pursuing environmental health careers in honor of Irving Bell, who retired from the Coca-Cola Company after many years as a supportive corporate liaison. Mr Bell has been a dedicated advocate for GEHA and remains an avid golfer. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, financial need, letters of recommendations, statement of why the student is choosing a career in an environmental health-related field, and the evaluation of the chosen internship program. The award includes:

• $1550.00, awarded during UGA’s Annual Environmental Health Awards Banquet held on the UGA campus at the conclusion of the school-year;
• An invitation to attend the GEHA AEC awards luncheon, including a $100 stipend to travel, plus free room and meals during the conference; and
• One-year paid membership to GEHA.

GEHA Graduate Scholarship:

Awarded by the GEHA Foundation annually in recognition of Georgia colleges and schools of public health that offer graduate degrees. This scholarship was developed in 2016 by then-GEHA President Maggie Rickenbaker and the GEHA Foundation, with the first award given in 2017. This scholarship is awarded annually to a student pursuing a graduate-level degree in an area of public health. The award includes:

• $1,000.00, awarded during the GEHA Annual Education Conference;
• An invitation to attend the GEHA AEC awards luncheon, including a $100 stipend to travel, plus free event registration; and
• One-year paid membership to GEHA.

UGA Barnhart Environmental Health Award: 

Dr. Harold Barnhart has been, and continues to be, a great influence to many of the Environmental Health Science alumni at UGA. As a faculty member, he provided students with the leadership, guidance and encouragement to become successful in environmental health, and he continues to be a role model for many of his former students today. The Harold and Mary Barnhart Scholarship is awarded to a  college junior each year who excels in academics, activities and service. The award is based on a combination of characteristics that lead to success as a professional including, but not limited to: enthusiasm, interest in public health, integrity, involvement in environmental health organizations, and success in environmental health courses.

UGA Environmental Health Science Award: 

Each year, the UGA Environmental Health Science Department faculty recognizes the top senior in the program with this award.

UGA John J. Sheuring Scholarship: 

This fund was established in 1967 by donations from the then-named Georgia Society of Registered Professional Sanitarians, which is now GEHA, along with other individual donations in memory of John J. Sheuring. The award goes to recognize the junior pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Health degree program with the highest GPA, who is a student interested in the study of various aspects of environmental health. The Environmental Health Science Program as it is known today was established by Dr. Sheuring and the late Professor Herb Henderson.

UGA Randall Manning Scholarship: 

Randall Manning was a longtime supporter of the UGA Bachelor’s of Science Environmental Health Program and hosted hundreds of interns during his tenure with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. This award is in his honor and recognizes outstanding student performance in an internship.

UGA Rowe Environmental Health Award: 

Dr. Daryl Rowe was very involved in GEHA for many years. In lieu of retirement gifts, he wanted to establish this private scholarship fund in memory of Kimberly Lynne Rowe (1970-1995). The award goes to one undergraduate UGA EHS student based on a combination of characteristics that lead to success as a professional including, but not limited to: enthusiasm, interest in public health, integrity, involvement in environmental health organizations, and success in environmental health courses.
